Lupus Is Going Down

Helping You Live Well With Lupus

Hey, welcome to my website. My name is Chris, and not only do I own this website, I have also been diagnosed with lupus. So, what I write on here is based on my own personal experience with lupus.Chris Meche from

Yes, you read that right. I have lupus. It’s estimated that around 1.5 million Americans have lupus. And yes, the majority of these are women, and I am a man with lupus. Even more, I was first diagnosed with lupus earlier than most people. So, I don’t fit the typical lupus patient profile.

But, what I’ve learned from my own experience is that lupus affects everyone differently. While there are some common characteristics, lupus affects everyone differently. That’s part of what frustrates me– not knowing what to expect.

For example, I suffered a lupus flare throughout my middle school years and my freshman year. Then, I went through an extended period of remission. By extended, I mean 15 years!

When I was in my 30s, I had hernia surgery that required hernia mesh. Next thing you know, I was in the midst of another flare. I was dealing with something I thought was gone from my life. It was a dark time for me: my health deteriorated, I became depressed, and withdrew from my life (including my loved ones).

In the midst of the storm, I remember thinking to myself, “I’m tired of living like this”. I mean, I have lupus, but that doesn’t have to be the only thing that defines me. I’m more than a disease. So, I started doing my homework.

I’ve always been the type to attack a problem head-on. So, I rolled up my sleeves and came up with a plan to overcome lupus. I decided it took enough of my life.

And, I’m still working the plan. Do I have bad days? Yes. But, has my quality of life improved? Definitely. And, it continues to improve everyday.

That’s why I created this website. I figure that if I can share what I’ve learned and what I’ve been through, maybe I can help others so that they just bypass that dark time that I went through and go straight to a better life.

I want this website to be a source of information. I’ll be sharing things that I have used to help me with my symptoms. Also, I’ll share ways to improve your outlook in the midst of your journey, as well.

Finally, I want to offer you encouragement. You don’t have to travel down this road alone. I wish I understood this a few years ago. It would’ve saved me a lot of time and heartache. I can’t go back in time and change that, but I can help someone else from going down that road. So, I created this website.

If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.

All the best,
